The Crew Club is committed to creating a culture of aspiration, ambition and entrepreneurship amongst young people. We are developing pathways for young people into social enterprises, including retail and digital sectors, offering volunteering and work placements. We aim to build on links with employers and equip young people with transferable skills.
We encourage young people to participate in as many opportunities as possible both inside and outside of the club. To back this up we lead on a number of opportunities for young people to get fully involved within major issues at both the Club and within the community.
Our recent Apprenticeship Opportunity through the Brighton and Hove youth collective, has allowed a local young person to get more involved in youth work. Our Youth Apprentice, Marc has developed skills and understanding that will enable him to develop his career as a youth sports worker and further his career aspirations. Here is what Marc had to say about this opportunity:
“Being a youth apprentice has given me the chance to improve my leadership skills and gain a job in youth work. I really enjoy working with young people, teaching them sports and being there if they need support.”
The Club is also honoured to lead on the Youth Participatory budgeting project for the Whitehawk, Manor Farm and Bristol Estates. Named by the young people as ‘Piggybank’ The project gives young people a say on where funds is spent on youth project in the area.
